Education Budget: Department got the highest allocation in the education budget

Education Budget 2025: Some changes have been made in the allocation for the education department in the Union Budget 2025. The budget for Kendriya Vidyalaya Samiti, NCERT, UGC, IITs and PM Research Fellowship has been increased, while the allocation for Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti and other institutions has decreased.

Education Budget 2025: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made many important changes for the education sector in the Union Budget 2025. This time the amount given to some departments in the education budget has been increased, while the budget for some other institutions has also decreased.

Kendriya Vidyalaya’s budget increased; Navodaya Vidyalaya’s decreased

Kendriya Vidyalaya Samiti has received an increase of ₹201.17 crores this time, while Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti had to face a reduction of ₹494.77 crores. An increase of ₹83.71 crores has been made for NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training), so that its programs can be further strengthened. At the same time, PM Research Fellowship has been increased by ₹250 crores, which will promote research and innovation across the country.

UGC budget increased by 835.97 crores

Apart from this, the allocation for the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme has been increased by ₹578 crores, which will help in improving the schemes providing skill training to the youth. UGC (University Grants Commission) has been given an additional budget of ₹835.97 crores, which can lead to more progress in the field of higher education. At the same time, the increased budget of ₹1024.50 crores for IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) will strengthen the educational and infrastructure of IIT institutes.

Reduction in the budget of these departments

However, some institutions have also faced a reduction in the budget. The allocation of ₹55 crores for the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence has been reduced, while ₹200 crores has been reduced for AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). Apart from this, the budget of ₹18.27 crores has also been reduced for the Indian Institute of Science (IISc)
